All About Abyssinian Cats!
The average life expectancy of an Abyssinian is 12 years, but they can live anywhere from 9 to 15 or more years. Abyssinians commonly live closer to 15 years. If your “Aby” is healthy and primarily an indoor cat, then you can be pretty confident it will live longer than 12 years.
Adult Abyssinian cats generally reach full adulthood weight by their first year. The weight range varies largely on genetics and diet. In terms of gender, you will find that male Abyssinian cats weigh about as much in adulthood as the females. It is also interesting to note that the weight range for Abyssinian males and females isn’t all that big either. Both males and females have an acceptable breed range of 8 to 12 pounds.
When you have a young family and are considering any pet, it’s important to ensure that they will get along well with kids. There are many factors to take into account, including their personality, their health and even the lifespan of your cat. In general, Abyssinians are a very good breed choice for a household with kids.
